Tomato Pappu & Beerakaya Bobbarla Koora + Brown rice

Tomato pappu:

Boil the following in a pressure cooker for 3 whistles:

  • 1 cup toor dal
  • 3 medium sized tomatoes 
  • 5-7 garlic pods
  • 3-4 green chillies
  • pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp jeera (cumin seeds)
  • few drops of cooking oil
  • 2 cups of water
After the dal is cooked, add chilli powder, tamarind extract (optional), and salt to it. Add tadka (oil + mustard seeds + cumin seeds + 3-4 dried red chillies + curry leaves) to the above mixture and simmer for 10 min and take it off the stove, and serve with rice.

Beerakaya bobbarla koora:

Soak bobbarlu (small red beans) for 4-5 hours.
